There is no research being done on the stock of pikeperch in eastern Europe and Russia and catch data lack. The state of the stockStock:
The fish of a particular species reproducing in the same area in the same period. in this area is therefore unknown. There are however strong indications that the populations in eastern Europe are being overfished.
The fishing methods are selective, with little bycatch and no harmful effect on the bottom.
In most inland waters of the former Soviet-Union there is hardly any management. Most “Russian” pikeperch is currently coming from Kazakhstan and the lakes east of the Urals. The fish is labelled as Russian.
