GLOBALG.A.P. (Global Good Agriculture Practice) is a non-profit organisation whose aim is to guarantee the traceability and food safety of farmed fish products. GLOBALG.A.P. also manages a certification programme for the production of fish feed and fishmeal.
A GLOBALG.A.P. certificate is the minimum requirement needed for fish farmers to gain access to the Dutch supermarkets. GLOBALG.A.P. products can be recognized by the GGN number on the packaging. More information about the product can be found by entering this number into the GLOBALG.A.P. database.
Fish farms with a GLOBALG.A.P. certificate are taking a step in the right direction towards sustainability. A number of fish species receive a better rating on the VISwijzer if they are GLOBALG.A.P. certified, such as sea bream and Atlantic salmon.
