The tech or doctor fish is a greenish freshwater fish of maximum 70 cm length and occurs in Europe and Asia. This species is mostly found in slow-moving water bodies, like lakes and lowland rivers. This species prefers habitats with abundant vegetation with a muddy or clayish substrate. Like most freshwater fish, tech is not very popular for consumption in the Netherlands however, it is a common consumption fish in central and eastern Europe.
