The hairtail or largehead hairtail has an elongated, silver-coloured body that can reach lengths up to 2 meters. Its body extends into a very thin caudal fin. The hairtail occurs in the deeper parts of our coastal oceans, at depths of 100 – 350 meters. The hairtail feeds on other small fish, crustaceans and cephalopods (squids and octopuses).
