Cod Atlantic FAO 27 ICES I,II MSC Skrei

This cod migrates from January till April to the Norwegian coastal waters to reproduce. In that period it is called “Skrei”. The north-eastern cod stock is fished by an international fleet, and is for mainly Norwegians and Russians of great economic importance. Since 2010 multiple fisheries on this stock are [MSC certified]. These fishermen use miscellaneous gears, including [demersal otter trawls], gillnetsGillnets:
A fishing technique whereby passing fish get caught in the meshes with their gills. The net stands vertically on the bottom or hangs on buoys in the water column. The by-catch of species such as porpoises and dolphins is a problem related to gillnets.

A fishing method whereby a long main line (40-100 km long) with transverse lines with hooks with bait is expanded. The line floats on buoys in the water column.
